Premier League number after Man Utd denied the penalty in the victory of Southampton

The Premier League issued an official statement regarding Manchester United’s denied penalty claim during their match against Southampton.

Defender Kyle Walker-Pters committed a handball in his own area, causing vehement protests from United players who were discarded through referee John Brooks.

Despite Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte advocating strongly, VAR Paul Tierney validated Brooks’ decision after a swift review of the 25th-minute occurrence.

The incident occurred when a shot by Alejandro Garnacho diverted up before heading to Walker-Peters and Amad Diallo.

In attempting to shield the erratic ball, the Saints’ defender unexpectedly made contact with it using his hand – an action deemed unintentional by the officials, due largely to Diallo instigating contact just prior.

This interaction would possibly have influenced the decision not to sanction United.

The Premier League Match Center said: “The referee’s decision not to penalize Walker-Peters’ handball was verified and demonstrated by VAR, who ruled that it was a twist of fate resulting from ‘a touch from Amad’.

The judgment appears to have been made based on the basis that Walker-Peters had not intentionally made his frame “abnormally larger” when making contact with the ball, which would differently give a penalty, even if unintentional.

The State of the Legislation: “A player must have made his frame unnaturally larger when the position of his hand/arm is not the result or justifiable by the player’s frame movement for that express situation. “

“Having his hand/arm in such position, the player runs from his hand/arm being beaten through the ball and being penalized. “

The difficult times of United in Old Trafford worsened when they awarded a goal before the break.

Summer signing Manuel Ugarte accidentally turned the ball into his own goal after Tyler Dibling’s corner went wide, causing United to go down at half-time.

But Amad scored a triple at 12 minutes from the end to save Ruben Amorim’s shadows against the saints in difficulties, who entered the game with an undefeated victory in 20 games of the Premier League.

Amad struck three times late on to earn the match ball and a vital three points for the Red Devils.
