A very special night at Barça with the premiere of the documentary series “FC Barcelona, a new era”, which traces the internal history of the last two years of the club, marked by the process of rebuilding the men’s football team and an era of economic and institutional regeneration.

The Auditori 1899 was the venue chosen to hold the event, which was attended by Barça president Joan Laporta and other representatives of the Board of Directors, the coach of the first team, Xavi Hernández, and the players who have recently been training with the team after the World Cup.

 

Ricardo Cabornero, head of Content for Spain and Portugal at Prime Video, will also participate in the event, along with personalities from the world of entertainment such as the member of the Estopa organization and disapproving members of the Catalan Government.

They all paraded along the red carpet before attending the screening of the fourth episode of the series, which includes different moments that highlight how the first team was rebuilt, including last March’s 4-0 victory in the Clásico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Produced through Barça Studios, the documentary series “FC Barcelona, a new era” is made up of five 30-minute episodes and will have its world premiere on December 28, exclusively on Prime Video.

The series looks back at the club’s last two years from the perspective of the first team. The story begins when, still in the middle of the pandemic, Barça suffered a resounding 2-8 defeat against Bayern Munich in Lisbon in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. It closes with the 2022/23 pre-season and the signing of new players, led by Robert Lewandowski.

August 14, 2020 marked the end of a normal era that began in 2004. This turning point for the club would culminate a few months later with the presidential election won by Joan Laporta and his current board of directors. which opted for a new executive configuration with Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff at the helm and, finally, the hiring of Xavi Hernández as coach.

The series includes a behind-the-scenes look at moments such as Quique Setien’s time at the helm of the club, the departure of Luis Suarez, Leo Messi’s departure from the previous board, the Argentine’s final season at the club, Laporta’s arrival, Messi’s emotional farewell, the end of the Ronald Koeman era and how Xavi signed as Barca’s new coach.

As the documentary series shows, the new coach has been a very important piece in getting the team back to competing in La Liga and rebuilding the team, bringing in young and emerging skills and making some key signings in the winter transfer window.
