Police said the stabbed man, who was seriously injured in the incident, filed a complaint last month.

Amsterdam police on Sunday arrested Ajax striker Quincy Promes for his alleged involvement in a stabbing in July, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported.

A police spokesman showed the arrest of a 28-year-old boy from Amsterdam on Sunday morning in connection with the stabbing of a boy in July near the town of Abcoude, but did not verify the boy’s identity.

Ajax can be contacted for comments.

Citing witnesses, De Telegraaf reported that the incident occurred in a family reunion circle organized through Promes on the premises of a company he owned.

Ajax travelled to Denmark on Monday with only 17 players indexed on the team for their Champions League match against Midtjylland

The player’s paper had argued with one of his relatives and stabbed him.

Police said the stabbed man, who was seriously injured in the incident, filed a complaint last month.

Promes, who in the past played for Sevilla FC and Spartak Moscow, did not show up for education at Ajax on Sunday, Telegraaf said.

He scored seven goals in 47 games for the Dutch national team and scored Ajax’s momentum in his 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle on Saturday.
