Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has suffered a painful ankle injury, a challenge that will keep him out for several games.
The 29-year-old Italian shooter remains one of the Biancocelesti’s few bright spots this season, despite the chaos on the rest of the pitch. His good paintings recently earned him a new long-term contract with a significant salary increase.
Lazio were worried after Provedel was forced off the pitch in the dying moments of Monday night’s 2-1 loss to Udinese, and came off incredibly sore after suffering an ankle problem while jumping into a corner.
As announced by Lazio, Provedel underwent a series of medical examinations at the International Hospital of Paideia, which showed that he did not suffer any “skeletal fracture”. However, he suffered “severe trauma with a sprain,” which will leave him paralyzed. Out for weeks.
The 29-year-old will be closely watched over the next few days and it is not yet clear how long he will be forced to retire, but his defeat is a major blow to Maurizio Sarri and the Biancocelesti regardless.
