Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic says Paris Saint-Germain’s semi-final rivals are “made to win the Champions League” ahead of Wednesday’s first leg.
Terzic said on Tuesday that lifting the European Cup has been PSG’s “main objective” since it bought it through Qatar Sports Investments.
“The task in Paris started with the goal of winning the Champions League,” Terzic told reporters. “That’s been his big goal for a decade. “
PSG won Ligue 1 on Sunday, their 10th league title in the last 12 seasons.
The national dominance, however, translated into European trophies. PSG lost the final in 2020 to Bayern Munich.
Dortmund, winners of the festival in 1997, have reached the semi-finals for the fifth time in the club’s history and the first since 2013, when they also lost in the final to Bayern.
Terzic praised Kylian Mbappe but said PSG were a risk attack all over the park.
“That’s the question we hear the most: ‘How can Kylian Mbappe be prevented?’But if you’re only talking about Kylian Mbappe, then there’s Ousmane Dembélé or (Goncalo) Ramos, or Vitinha, or (Achraf) Hakimi, or (Randal) Kolo. Muani and everyone else,” he said.
“They have quality.
“If we need something, then we have to do it with the ball. If we care about the ball (there’s only one), then it’s going to be a lot harder for them to score. “
Dortmund capped a rocky past at the festival of PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle, before knocking out PSV Eindhoven and Atletico Madrid to reach the semi-finals.
“Were we the favourites in the group?I don’t know,” Terzic replied when asked if his team would be the loser against Paris.
“We may be the team with the least experience, but we are the ones who are hungry.
“When everyone is engaged, not just those on the field and on the bench, but everyone in the stadium as well, we have a great opportunity and we have to take advantage of it. “
Terzic said several key players, including quarterfinal scorers Marcel Sabitzer and Sebastien Haller, would be compatible to play.
