PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz says “you don’t have to be a scientist” to see Kai Havertz as a “great and wonderful talent” after facing Arsenal in the Champions League.
The move from Chelsea to Arsenal did not bring good luck to Havertz. While he plays football for a team that is second in the Premier League and has qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, the German is not the star.
An access to the midfield drew attention, as it largely takes away the ability to score goals from a guy who has played part of his career at the top.
In fact, he scored 4 goals in all competitions, adding one penalty when two players above him in the pecking order were still on the pitch.
Most of those goals came in the last month, suggesting he is getting the point the Gunners need.
Although he is not yet at that level, PSV coach Bosz praised Havertz for his qualities after facing him in the Champions League.
“You don’t have to be a football scientist to see that he was a wonderful talent. Absolutamente. Es a modest guy. . . A remarkable, extraordinary player,” he said, quoted by The Telegraph’s Sam Dean.
The benchmark has to do with both his functionality in the game and his overall quality as a footballer. In fact, Havertz set the game on fire, but Bosz is transparent to the extent that he believes there is overriding merit in it.
At 24 years of age, and playing for one of world football’s best sides at the moment, Havertz is sure to improve. He’s on the right track anyway, and will hope he can continue to show that improvement, while ideally having a bit more of an impact in terms of goals and assists.
