Barcelona are hoping to close a summer transfer deal with Sergino Dest to PSV Eindhoven.
Dest’s role at the Catalan side is unlikely to change, despite the managerial turmoil ahead, and the club are content to let him go.
The American foreigner has not appeared at Barcelona since 2022 and accepted an offer to sign for PSV on loan for one season at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
The return to Holland revived Dest’s faltering career with PSV, which had lately dropped ten points in the Eredivisie title race.
While talks continue about activating a €10 million buyout clause, PSV director of football Earnie Stewart has shown that the Dutch side are fighting for him to stay at the club.
“Both players (Dest and Malik Tillman) have done homework for PSV Eindhoven, and I hope one of them stays,” ESPN quoted him as saying.
PSV’s Champions League campaign is now over, after a 16-point defeat to Borussia Dortmund, but it seems certain that they will clinch their first league crown since 2018 ahead of reigning champions Feyenoord.
The publication PSV verifies the objective of signing Sergiño Dest from Barcelona seems first in Football Spain.
