PSV Eindhoven defended its name from the KNVB Cup (Dutch Cup) by beating Ajax 3-2 by consequences on Sunday, after the match ended 1-1.

Ajax defender Jarrad Branthwaite’s goal, contrary to his own, gave PSV the lead in the 42nd minute at Feyenoord Stadium.

But Thorgan Hazard levelled the score in the 67th minute, sending the match into time and penalties.

Ajax’s Brian Brobbey, Jurrien Timber and Edson Alvarez missed the shootout and PSV won their title.

The KNVB Cup has been organised through the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898.

The Amsterdam-based Ajax club has 20 titles.
