Rangers have paid tribute to 25-year-old fan Thomas McAllister, who passed away after the Europa League last-16 clash against Benfica in Lisbon on Thursday night.
The cases of his death are still known.
The club said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that Rangers FC has learned that their supporter Thomas McAllister has passed away in Lisbon following the UEFA Europa League match against Benfica last night.
“The minds of everyone at the club are with Thomas’ circle of family and friends, and we will remain in constant contact with the Portuguese and British governments in relation to this tragic incident. “
Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove said: “On behalf of the club, I would like to express my deepest condolences to Thomas’ loved ones, his circle of family and friends.
“This news has incredibly affected everyone at the club, as well as, I’m sure, all of our supporters. No one goes to a football game and doesn’t come home.
“The club is in a position to help Thomas’ family in any way we can in the coming days and weeks. “
Affectionately known as Tam, Daddy Thomas of Glasgow’s Drumchapel Domain, and tributes poured in on social media following the unfortunate news.
