Celtic looked sluggish compared to their hosts, although there was a nervy moment just before the break when Reo Hatate’s shot had to be palmed away by Liam Kelly, who was making just his second start for Rangers.
Clement’s team put on a similar display in the first half of last month’s Scottish League Cup final to lose results after a 3-3 draw, but there was no repeat of that lowering of standards in the second half: Kyogo Furuhashi completed Kyogo Furuhashi’s finish. The intelligence sent for Offaspect will have been a reminder to some enthusiasts of this gloom at Hampden Park.
However, those considerations ended just after the game time. Robin Propper turned out to have an unlikely hero, returning with a nearby diversity after Nico Raskin’s head blocked, and never seemed that Celtic returned from there.
Substitute Danilo then scored barely a minute after coming off the bench, side-footing home from close range to spark celebrations in the stands. The title may be beyond them for this season, but this was at least a game that showed there is not as big a gap between the Old Firm rivals as the league table suggests.

What a result it is! Rangers inflicted Celtic their first domestic defeat in over a year. It was one of his worst performances of the season from distance. The name race may be firmly in their hands, but it will hurt.
90 3 minutes: The Rangers make a trio of substitutions in the final seconds to applaud some players. Celtic are well defeated. In truth, they looked pretty defeated from start to finish.
88 mins: There’s a break in play after Arne Engels was struck on the head by something that appeared to be thrown from the crowd. The referee hands the object to the fourth official — it looks like coin — who then passes it to a police officer to be placed in an evidence bag. Ugly, unnecessary scenes. Engels is okay, at least.
86 minutes: Celtic faced 24 shots in today’s match. Since Opta entered Scotland’s top flight in 2013/14, they have never faced so many matches.
81 minutes: Goal! Danilo scores with his first touch! Johnston shrugs the ball off through Jefte, who drives down the left and fires in a low cross that is blocked through Carter-Vickers. The ball falls very well to update Danilo, who sweeps the house the first time. He’s in the box for 70 seconds before this goal!

78 minutes: great possibility in the break for the Rangers, while Igamane and Bajami have an opposite to an opposite to the Vickers Carter, however, the Bajami attacker’s pass is failed and cut.
75 minutes: Rangers have controlled 23 shots to Celtic’s four so far. Three of the league leaders’ tries came in the first half; the latter just noticed that a header from Maeda was blocked by Yilmaz. It was a truly unusual performance.
In fact, it did not register as a gunshot. It’s three o’clock.
70 minutes: Rangers need handball after Idah blocks Igamane’s shot from a corner, but his arm opposes his body. There is no possibility.
66 minutes: Goal! The Rangers double their advance! From the resulting corner Raskin’s header is blocked on the line, however Robin Propper is there to swoop in on the rebound. Celtic are big now!

65 minutes: Good save from Schmeichel! Cerny is back to step in and shoot with his more powerful left foot, however, the Celtic guardian is up to the task. There is a triple replacement for the visitors, with the arrival of Adam Idah, Alex Valle and Luke McCowan.
60 mins: HOW HAS THAT STAYED OUT? Cerny is through on goal and places a low finish past Schmeichel, but it comes back off the inside of the post and bounces all the way along the goal line without going in! The flag had stayed down, although had that been a goal, VAR might have ruled him offside.
57 minutes: penalty for the Rangers after a head of Boss hit Paulo Bernardo’s rear arm, but there is no way for that to be given. However, it is an intelligent destination for the local team.
53 minutes: GOAL BY KYOGO – NO! OFFSIDE! It’s a sublime finish when he controls Carter-Vickers’ ball over the more sensitive one before firing a shot past Kelly and into the net, but VAR confirms he’s narrowly offside. However, this is a warning for the Rangers.
50 minutes: The Celtics started the break, but the Rangers were already threatening on the counterattack. Another shot by Hagi bounces awkwardly in front of Schmeichel, but Schmeichel is placed right on the ball.
No changes for either side.
The Rangers lead 1-0, and rightly so. It’s been the biggest team and Celtic just haven’t been there.
But all those things were true at halftime of the cup final in December, too…
Four four minutes: Good stop, Liam Kelly! The corner falls to Hatate, about 12 meters from the goal. It does well to keep the average volley on the target, but Kelly is able to stop the ball. The referee whips the rest in the middle of a small rifirrafe on the pitch and strong boos of the stands. After all, it is the old signature.
45 3 minutes: The great shot, but Taylor manages to get a corner. Celtic will have some other chances before the break.
45+1 minutes: Jefte Carless, who throws an arm and hits Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn on the face. Celtic wins a loose shot near the corner. Kuhn is really bleeding and will need treatment before being caught.
39 minutes: Carter-Vickers brilliant! Sterling makes a wonderful challenge and the Rangers break magnificently. Bajrami waits as he weighs his characteristics before throwing a good ball into Mohamed Diomande’s path, but Carter-Vickers times his slide perfectly. This may simply be a pivotal moment.
36 minutes: Hagi has some other chance to shoot, but he is interrupted while hitting the ball, dissecting the attempt. That came here from another misplaced pass by Reo Hatate, who suffered a genuine work in Ibrox.
32 mins: Johnson catches the back of Hagi’s head with his raised arm as they jump for a header. Rangers fans are incensed, but that looked accidental. VAR has a look and agrees.
27 minutes: So this setting feels a little bit like the beginning of the cup final. The Rangers have looked better with and without the ball and therefore the Array keeps Celtic’s attackers away from the goal. But as that day showed, things can be temporarily replaced at Old Firm fites. . .
18 minutes: Large paintings of Yilmaz as he advances to cut off Hatate’s pass to Maeda, advances and makes a low shot. He doesn’t have the strength of Hagi’s efforts, and Schmeichel saves comfortably.
13 minutes: outside the bar! The Rangers collapses temporarily after Hatate loses the ball in the center of the field. Vaclav Cerny intervenes on the right and tries a shot that deviates a lot. Kasper Schmeichel is convinced that the ball does not approach his goal . . . until he hits the crossbar. and went to corner.

5 minutes: Nedim Bajrami attempts a shot inside the Celtic area but his effort hits Hamza Igamane. The Rangers responded well to this first pressure. It was a smart start to the game.

27 minutes before the start: Clement is sure of himself. Kelly and Nico Raskin will give their best in the absence of key figures such as Butland and Tavernier.
“It’s a new adventure with this players’ organization,” he told Sky Sports. “Some boys are taking intelligent steps in that regard. Nico Raskin is developing in that role and wants multiple leaders in the field.
“Of course you miss two leaders, but I’m expecting from Liam Kelly the same. He’s being doing it in the dressing room and I expect that on the pitch also.”
