Twenty-four hours later, Rangers and Bayer Leverkusen players emerged from the Ibrox tunnel before their last europa League first leg against a crowd.
The game itself is almost lost in the sand of time, while the coronavirus has settled all over the world and, to this day, it still dictates much of what we can do.
However, for Steven Gerrard’s players who arrived in Germany for the second leg from a separate tie for about five months, the painful lesson given at night will remain new in memory.
The Leverkusen was in Glasgow when Gerrard suffered his first defeat in a European house, and George Edmundson’s header was his only reaction to the movements of Kai Havertz, Charles Aranguiz and Leon Bailey.
Gerrard had to think of a 3-1 deficit that would possibly be too big an order for the Rangers to reverse, however, either group would enter a bloodless room soon after.
Since then, the Bundesliga has returned before anyone else in Europe, behind closed doors, in May, with Peter Bosz’s team completing their last 10 matches and the last of the German Cup.
They lost problems in four of them to miss a place in the League Champions League, they ruled through Borussia Monchengladbach through only two problems, as they finished fifth.
The champion on the run, Bayern Munich, beat them 4-2 in the final of the DFB Pokal a month ago.
However, they have serious plans to save their season by winning the Europa League and making it the UEFA festival. Rangers are the existing obstacle. Inter Milan, who beat Getafe on Wednesday, would be next in the quarter-finals.
Kai Havertz
The Leverkusen’s shape may have been reduced after the reboot, but Havertz remains a wanted man. It is not enough from the points of view of Rangers, as the midfielder is still at the club despite the opening of the movement window and the continued interest of some of England’s most important strikers. Havertz helped steer the screen on Ibrox and can also do it without problems at home.
Léon Bailey
The Jamaican striker’s final for Bayer’s third goal at Ibrox was exquisite and he started his six games of the organizational campaign. Bailey has been connected to Everton and Tottenham Hotspur this week and may face teammate Havertz next season if any of them are eliminated from Die Werkself.
Moussa Diaby
Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard’s under-21 france teammate is a budding star. Bosz recently discovered a way to get Bailey and his squad to his squad by betting on the Jamaican alien through the midfield. The Diavia end is said to have caught the attention of the newly crowned English champions of Liverpool.
