Wilson, unimpressed, believes the Rangers’ snipers are his own team’s shortcomings following Aberdeen’s accusations following his Parkhead collage.

The former Celtic defender has heard the arguments from the likes of Kris Boyd and Light Blues diehards on the airwaves that the Dons phone it in against the Premiership champions and turn it up against their fierce rivals from Govan. Not only is Wilson against that argument he has flipped the narrative and claimed Rangers’ habit of hiccups against Aberdeen are on them.

Speaking on Clyde One Superscoreboard, Wilson said: “It’s a ridiculous argument that you’d think professional footballers would go and do that. At that, if you think that, surely if Rangers have got better individuals than Aberdeen, are you not having a go at your own team in Rangers and saying why can’t they equally get up for it?

“Maybe they don’t like the atmosphere, I don’t know. But how could you possibly think Aberdeen, who have really good players, will think for the other 10 teams in the league, ‘We’ll go alright today, but Rangers are coming? We’re gonna try really hard here!’

Aberdeen will host Rangers on Sunday. Philippe Clément’s side could start at Granite City 11 times under the name of their rivals, Celtic.
