RB Leipzig are likely to be without seven first-team players for their Champions League clash against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Interestingly, the Bundesliga team is just one of three clubs yet to pick up a single point in the Champions League championship after losing all five of their matches so far. They tasted defeat against Atlético de Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool, Celtic and Inter.

Games against Villa, Sporting and Sturm Graz await them, but Marco Rose’s appearance will likely want to win all 3 to secure a place in the play-offs, given that Real Madrid, who lately occupy the last qualifying position for the round of 16 final in 24th place, has six points. Arrangement

Villa, meanwhile, are sitting on 10 points after winning their opening three matches, losing to Club Brugge and drawing with Juventus last month. Unai Emery should give a team news update on Monday evening in his pre-match press conference out in Germany.

Rose is expected to be one of the players who remain sidelined due to injuries.

Xavi Simons is expected to miss the match, as he continues to suffer an ankle ligament injury last October. David Raum is now running for the first time since also injuring his ankle ligament, but he may miss the game as well.

Castello Lukeba is suspended after picking up his third yellow card in the league in the defeat to Inter and remains injured, while Yussuf Poulsen, Assan Ouedraogo and El Chadaille Bitshiabu are absent. Eljif Elmas is also expected to miss the game.

Leipzig, however, were boosted by the return of Kevin Kampl and Lukas Klostermann to the squad to face Holstein Kiel in Saturday’s final game. They won the match 2-0 to end a four-game winless streak in the league.
