As reported by Florian Plettenberg, RBLeipzig are keeping an eye on two right-backs in hopes of replacing the injured Benjamin Henrichs this winter.
Having already shown defensive weaknesses at times this season, Marco Rose has discovered the ideal replacement.
First on Leipzig’s shortlist is VfL Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku. The 26-year-old full-back will be a free agent this summer and will not be able to contact clubs this month.
If Leipzig opts for Baku, Wolfsburg will most likely be tempted to accept a lower fee to cash in if Baku is not willing to sign an extension.
According to TransferMarkt, Baku is valued at €7 million lately.
The second shortlisted player is Amar Dedić from RB Salzburg. The 22-year-old Bosnian foreigner would be the more beloved of the two, recently valued at 15 million euros and with a contract until 2027.
Dedić has participated in 12 of the 16 Austrian Bundesliga matches in this campaign, while Salzburg has struggled to maintain speed against SK Sturm Graz and Austria Wien.
Out of the two, Baku clearly has more Bundesliga experience and would be the cheaper option. However, Dedić may be a signing with more longevity and is also under the current Red Bull Group model.
