RB Leipzig vs. Sporting CP preview: Team news and predicted lineups | OneFootball

The latest hope of the RB Leipzig went to the next level of the Champions League were damaged when he lost 3-2 opposites to Aston Villa in December.

It is the sixth defeat of Leipzig in six games in what has been a depressing crusade for Marco Rose’s men in the most sensible club competition in Europe.

With a place in the knockout stages now out of reach and just two games remaining of the league phase, Marco Rose’s men have nothing to play for but their pride.

Despite no longer playing to qualify for the next stage, Leipzig should be fired up to respond to Saturday’s 3-3 draw with bottom club Bochum, which saw them squander a 3-0 half-time lead.

Sporting, 17th in the Champions League with 10 points, remain in with a chance of qualifying despite struggling since Ruben Amorim left to take charge of Manchester United.

The Portuguese team won a 3-0 victory against Rio Ave, which gives them some confidence in the game.

Injuries, Benjamin Henrics, Castello Lukeba, Assan Ouedraogo, Xaver Schlager and André Silva are absent for Leipzig.

With Leipzig now having no chance of qualifying, Marco Rose can rotate his team, with Peter Gulacsi and Xavi Simons in all likelihood rested.

Pedro Goncalves and Nuno Santos will be absent through sports injuries.
