Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze was an inspiration on a day when Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo scored the decisive goal in the 2–1 home win over former Valencia to take his team to the most sensible in La Liga on Sunday.
Parejo, whom the captain of Valencia moved to Villarreal in August claiming that he had been expelled, celebrated his purpose a little after his shot diverted Mouctar Diakhaby into the net in the 69th minute.
Paco Alcácer, another former Valencia player, gave Villarreal the lead with a penalty in the 6th minute, Gonolo Guedes tied for visitors in trouble at 37.
Villarreal expelled Japanese foreigner Takefusa Kubo in extra time for a moment with a yellow card, while Parejo lied out of the field with a muscle injury.
However, Unai Emery’s team won the standings with 11 problems after six matches, a Real Madrid striker, second-placed, 1-0 home through Cadiz on Saturday.
