Jude Bellingham scored a game-winning goal as Real Madrid beat Barcelona to move 11 points atop La Liga after a thrilling Clasico.
Bellingham crashed into the roof of the net as time went on in stoppage time as Real twice came out of the Bernabeu.
Andres Christensen scored Barcelona’s first match, a penalty from Vinicius Jr levelled the match at half-time.
Fermin Lopez made it 2-1 for Barça before Lucas Vazquez equalised again.
The win puts Real on the right track to reclaim the name with six games left this season.
It looked like a night for Barcelona when Christensen beat Toni Kroos to find Raphinha’s corner after just six minutes.
But the celebrations were short-lived when referee Cesar Soto Grado pointed to the penalty spot when Pau Cubarsi fouled Vazquez in the box, giving Vinicius a chance to score his 13th goal in La Liga.
Lamine Yamal thought he had regained Barcelona’s lead when he fired a corner into the goal and goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who was on the line, picked up the ball.
Barcelona insisted the ball had crossed the line but, as La Liga does not have goal-line technology, the video assistant referee said that was not the case.
A tense moment came alive in the 69th minute when Lopez turned from close range after Lunin stopped a cross in his path.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real equalised for a second time 4 minutes later, with Vazquez emerging unmarked at the post to respond to a cross from Vinicius.
The win extends Real’s unbeaten record in all competitions to 28 games (W22 and 6) with their last home defeat to Villarreal on 8 April 2023.
Bellingham is getting used to performing at Real’s high level and few are bigger than a Clasico.
The England midfielder got his first taste of that historic match in October when he scored twice to lead his side to a 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico Lluis Companys, and has continued to step up his efforts at key moments. Crusade in Spain.
His latest win at the Bernabeu is the first Real Madrid player to score in his first two La Liga Clasicos since Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2007.
The €103 million (£88. 5 million) that Real spent on Borussia Dortmund to sign Bellingham this summer looks more and more like a reduced price with each passing week and, indeed, he doesn’t look out of position with Zinedine Zidane’s iconic number five on his back.
With 17 goals in La Liga this season, Bellingham is the division’s second-highest scorer, just one Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, and continues to dazzle as Real look to end the season with a brace in La Liga and the Champions League.
Barcelona coach Xavi furious after VAR officials simply failed to discover that Yamal’s effort had crossed the baseline.
“It’s a disgrace,” Xavi said, lamenting that goal-line generation used in other, more sensible divisions, including the Premier League, cannot be found in La Liga.
“If we need to be the league of the world, we have to move in that direction, we have to put the generation in it. “
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen agreed with his coach.
“It’s a shame for football, I have no words,” said the Germany international.
“There’s a lot of money in this world and nothing for what’s most important. “
