LIVERPOOL Trent Alexander-Arnold is a £75m target for Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old English full-back has more than a year left on his current contract at Anfield.
And Spanish giants Real are ready to control the Reds to keep their homegrown star while they continue to rebuild Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Liverpool don’t have to sell Alexander-Arnold this summer.
And they’re still hoping to tie him to some other long-term contract.
But if negotiations fail, Real will be the only ones looking to trap the Merseysiders to take advantage of it.
And the Reds know they risk wasting the right-back for nothing next year.
Agreeing new terms with Alexander-Arnold will be one of the most sensible priorities for Liverpool’s new hierarchy this summer.
The most important task for Michael Edwards (who returns to Anfield as chief football officer this summer) and new director Richard Hughes is to appoint a successor to outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp.
But Mo Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk are in the contract position as Alexander-Arnold.

And that may lead to a summer of primary turmoil for name contenders.
All three are already among the club’s highest-earning earners, but they are hoping for breakthrough situations and a suitably inspiring replacement for Klopp.
The Saudi Pro League is desperate for Salah in particular.
Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will be interested.
Due to Alisson’s injury, the 25-year-old Irishman has started Liverpool’s last five Premier League games and also featured in the Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea.
But he has only made 43 appearances since arriving at Anfield in 2019 and may now be tempted to leave Merseyside after several impressive performances.
