Real Madrid are becoming more and more confident when it comes to signing Alphonso Davies this summer. In the past, the Spanish side were tied to a resolution through the Bayern Munich defender for much of the final period of play. However, of course, no agreement was ever reached.
However, Spanish reports recommend that Los Blancos will reignite their interest in Davies next summer. The defender is widely regarded as one of the world’s left-backs. Bayern would like to remain the key player, but contract negotiations between the two parties are not progressing.
Davies has a contract with the German giants until June 2025. This means that Bayern could lose the author of the star definition if they do not re-sign or sell him before the end of the 2024 summer transfer window. There is no real rush to sign a new deal with the reigning Bundesliga champions.
Canada’s international agent, Nedal Huoseh, recently admitted that there is a lot of outside intrigue from his client as contract negotiations with Bayern stalled. “A lot of teams are interested,” Huoseh told 365 Scores.
“I read the articles on the internet, but in the end we’ll see what happens in the next few months. I’m sure Real Madrid can be one of the clubs that would like to sign Davies, along with several English Premier Leagues. All need to have one of the most productive left-backs in the world.
Huoseh also claimed that Davies remains in close contact with Real Madrid defender David Alaba. The two already played together at Bayern. He played with Alaba for 3 years. They’re friends, they communicate all the time,” Huoseh continued.
“The conversations they have together are private. Davies doesn’t share all the information about it to me, but I’m sure David would love to play with him again. They’re friends, you know, they communicate a lot, but he’s also friends with other players from other clubs and he also knows players from other clubs in the Premier League and La Liga.
Assuming Davies does not re-sign for Bayern, the two sides are expected to talk about the transfer fee. Mail Sport reports that the German club would potentially sell the defender for just $41 million. However, those fees can amount to more than $50. Million. Davies would face much higher value if he had a contract beyond 2025.
Real and Bayern also have a habit of doing business together. Alongside Alaba, Toni Kroos also joined the Spanish side from Bayern in 2014 for around $33 million. Arjen Robben, James Rodriguez and Xabi Alonso also replaced the colours of Real Madrid’s Bundesliga kit.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has deployed a combination of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia at left-back this season. However, the club are open to bids for Mendy next summer. That would open up a position for Davies. Unfortunately, the French foreigner has suffered a series of injuries since his arrival at the Spanish side.
