Real Madrid prodigy Reinier in condition to sign on loan from Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid prodigy Reinier is on loan for one season at Borussia Dortmund.

Goal says an agreement has been reached between the two clubs that will see the 18-year-old spend the 2020-21 crusade at the Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund will have the option to increase the loan per year, but no buyout clause has been included in the final deal.

BVB boss Lucien Favre showed Reinier’s arrival was imminent after seeing his side beat Austria Wien in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

“We need to lend it. It’s in the pipes. From what I’ve seen, he’s very smart offensively and a very, very smart finisher,” Favre said.

Madrid paid 35 million euros (30 million pounds/$39 million) to the Santiago Bernabeu midfielder from Flamengo in January.

He committed his long career with the Spanish champions until 2026, but La Liga registration rules prevented him from joining Zinedine Zidane’s first team.

Reinier has had to settle for a role in the Castilla madridista squad, since in the absolute squad only 3 non-European players are allowed, occupying lately Vinicius, Rodrygo and Eder Militao the positions of one.

Madrid are hoping the talented teenager can get plenty of minutes from his belt at Dortmund, which has earned a reputation forged by emerging young players in recent years.

Players such as Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, Giovanni Reyna and Jude Bellingham have been given a platform to continue their careers through the Bundesliga giants, and former Madrid player Achraf Hakimi was one of their most productive players last season.

The timing of Bellingham Dortmund’s signing this summer was when he joined the Birmingham city club in July, with former Paris Saint-Germain full-back Thomas Meunier arriving in a loose move earlier in the month.

The confirmation of Renier’s loan could revive the hypothesis about Sancho’s long-term with Dortmund, as Manchester United continue to try to attract foreigners from England to Old Trafford.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has publicly stated that the 20-year-old will remain there at least for the season, but the Reds remain positive about finalising a move before the window closes.
