Barcelona won the 2025 Spanish Super Cup after an impressive 5-2 win over Clasico rivals Real Madrid.
In one of the most memorable meetings in recent years between Spain’s two biggest clubs, Barca claimed the trophy and the right to bring it to life despite conceding the first goal and playing with 10 men during the final half-hour.
Kylian Mbappé scored a very good solo goal to put Madrid ahead in just five minutes, but Barça scored a goal. The Catalans were then 3-1 after having marked twice in a quick succession, Robert Lewandowski turned a penalty after a control of the VAR showed that Eduardo Camavanga had hit Gavi into the leg, and Raphinha turned a forceful header after a brilliant Jules Koundé center.
Alejandro Balde then finished off an elegant counterattack with the last kick of the break to leave the Barça fans in the stands of the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah.

Rodrygo clattered the crossbar with a powerful volley early in the second half and, barely a minute later, Barca got their fifth. Marc Casado’s pass around the corner allowed Raphinha to spring the offside trap, race into the box, turn back onto his left foot and finish in style.
While it looked like Hansi’s Flick team would succeed to a potentially historic score, Wojciech Szczesny sent off after a VAR examination showed he had tripped Mbappe across the surface. With the resulting loose kick, Rodrygo’s ferocious strike may not be prevented by replacement goalkeeper Inaki Pena.
Still, Barca expertly pulled off the game, limiting Madrid to sharing chances while defending their other side with aplomb. They celebrated enthusiastically at the final whistle as they won the Super Cup for the 15th time, extending their record over their arch-rivals.

Barcelona wins the 2025 Spanish Super Cup! What adjustment was it. The 5-2 ended for the Catalans, who magnificently controlled the attack after falling 10 to more than an hour from the end. A bankruptcy of this old rivalry.
90 6 minutes: what a backup! Mbappé escapes Kounde, cuts Araujo and shoots his shot into the bottom right corner, but Peña receives a hand to turn it around. Incredible reflex stop.
90 five minutes: Modric’s cross reaches the goal through Rudiger, who now plays as an emergency center forward, but Peña catches the ball comfortably.
90 1 minutes: Good luck for Bellingham! Mbappe becomes magnificently and the rear heels pass to English, but he extends through the ball and his end is driven directly to penalty. It is not Bellingham’s night.
89 minutes: Raphinha becomes the second Barça player to be cautioned AFTER being substituted. He is furious that a foul had not been committed on Pedri. There will be 8 minutes of added time in this part, but Madrid looks defeated.
86 mins: Ceballos plays a great cross in to Rudiger, of all people, who tries to bring the ball under control but can’t quite manage it. Mbappe then sizes up Araujo and is felled by him on the edge of the box, the Barca man getting a yellow card for his troubles.
83 mins: Asencio swings a lazy foot at a loose ball to send a volley over the bar. Madrid are just starting to look like they know this comeback is beyond them.
78 mins: Raphinha goes down with cramp and Asencio steps in to help (and hurry things along). Barca are understandably doing what they can to kill the game. Ferran Torres is coming on for Raphinha, who is hobbling off.
75 mins: Ancelotti makes two more changes. Brahim Diaz and Fran Garcia are on for Ferland Mendy and Vinicius. The Brazilian has had largely a quiet game.
71 minutes: Bellingham and Kounde get into an argument, the referee extends the tension.
64 minutes: Tchouameni, who has just been cautioned for running over Olmo, replaces Luka Modric. Ancelotti temporarily abandoned his more defensive configuration to continue the match.
60 mins: GOAL! RODRYGO SCORES FROM THE FREE-KICK! Pena gets his hand to the shot, but it’s too powerful to keep out, and the ball flies in off the right-hand post. This is a remarkable game of football.

59 minutes: Two settings for Barça: Lamine Yamal is off for replacement goalkeeper Inaki Pena. Dani Olmo is underway for Gavi.
57 minutes: red card! The referee assigns the blame to Madrid and Szczesny is sent! I can’t follow his game. Incredible things.
54 minutes: Mbappé is brought down by Szczesny and the referee does not call a foul!In fact, he showed the attacker a reservation of protest. It all came about because Bellingham jumped on a loose lob and passed to Mbappé. Szczesny moved away from his line and it turns out that he made contact. Gil Manzano is going to the instructor!
52 minutes: Barça fans applaud the touch of the ball. Rudiger blurs in the Yamal sheet through frustration. Ancelotti makes another change, with Raul Asencio in Vázquez. It looks like they went back to 3 and wings, but it’s too little, too late.
48 minutes: Objective! Raphinha does it 5-1! What happens in this game? From the purpose of kicking, Casado made a first pass through the background of Madrid, and Raphinha was absent. Enter the box, cut the left foot and put the end beyond Courtois. Exceptional Raphinha, but what is the defense of Madrid?

48 minutes: Rodrygo off the crossbar! Brilliant from Vinicius to overtake Koundé and cut a cross towards the far post. Rodrygo is absolutely trivialized, but his volley hits the post and he delivers a kick.
47 minutes: it seems that there is a long way to go, but if Madrid manages to score the following goal, it is possible that the comeback occurs. Barça’s defense does not seem solid here.
Ancelotti made a change, with Dani Ceballos for Camavonga, who mainly due to the lack of a second yellow card.
And breathe. What adjustment for Djeddah. What does Carlo Ancelotti say after that?
2 – @FCBarcelona have scored at least 4 goals in back-to-back ‘Clásicos’ for the first time in history in all competitions (4-0 in LaLiga and 1-4 today) and it is the first time this has happened in this meeting since @realmadrid get it in 1963 (5-1 and 4-0). Unleashed. pic.twitter.com/UIvXo2hEEo
45+10 mins: GOAL! BALDE MAKES IT 4-1! Madrid make a complete mess of a short corner, and Barca break at speed. Lamine Yamal plays it to Raphinha, who turns back inside and feeds it to Balde, whose low finish is right into the corner. What a first half for the Catalans!

45+8 mins: Martinez is booked for saying something to the officials in the dugout. Rodrygo swings in a free-kick from deep, but Barca can clear.
45+6 mins: WHAT A SAVE! From a tight angle, Balde fires a shot towards the high part of Courtois’ net, but he gets a hand up to tip the ball over the bar. Incredible reflexes.
45+4 minutes: Vázquez and Rodrygo almost created an opportunity on the surface of Barça, however, the ball despite everything returns to Szczesny to recover it. On the other hand, Valverde launches an important sliding challenge to save Raphinha from having a transparent race for the goal.
45 minutes: Camavinga, cautioned for the foul on Gavi that resulted in the penalty, grabs Lamine Yamal by the waist as the Barca winger looks to enter Madrid’s half. The referee chooses not to show a second yellow card. Camavinga can have incredible luck.
41 minutes: almost 4-1! Lewandowski looks at a headline right above Rudiger’s tense bar. Madrid wants to control this game and quickly.
39 minutes: Goal! Raphinha makes it 3-1! Kounde played a magnificent cross from deep and dropped the ball over the head of Raphinha, who ran between Vázquez and Tchouameni. From 12 yards, he headed in an exceptional header into the back corner.

33 minutes: Barcelona need a penalty for a foul on Gavi de Camavinga. It may only have one case: the midfielder hit a high boot. Var told referee Jesús Gil Manzano to check the monitor on the appearance of the field. . .
27 mins: Big blow here for Barcelona as Inigo Martinez sits down in the centre-circle. The defender cannot continue. Ronald Araujo, heavily linked with a January exit, will come on to replace him.
24 minutes: How was it outside? Tchouameni’s header passed over Szczesny, but the ball was a few centimeters from the post. What a first part that we have had so far.
22 mins: GOAL! SENSATIONAL FROM LAMINE YAMAL! Lewandowski plays a great first-time pass in behind Rudiger, and suddenly Lamine Yamal is away. He cuts in on his left foot away from Mendy and almost passes the ball right into the bottom-right corner of the net. Stunning finish. We’re level in Jeddah!

18 mins: Pedri’s deflected shot loops onto the roof of the net for a corner. The resulting delivery falls to Casado, who slices his effort well wide. Mbappe is now back on.
15 minutes: Barça brought the ball out while Mbappe turns out to have a problem. It appears he hurt his left ankle when he was trapped through Kounde. Brahim Díaz warms up while Mbappe has the joint attached.
10 mins: CHANCE FOR RAPHINHA! He flashes a low shot across goal and inches wide of the right-hand post. Barca may be a goal down, but they have started well here.
8 mins: Mbappe dances through the Barca midfield but is caught by Kounde on the heel (just). He looks in the mood here.
7 mins: There was a VAR check for that goal to judge whether Vinicius fouled Casado in the build-up, but the officials decide to let the goal stand.
5 minutes: Objective! What a goal of Kylian Mbappé! Vinicius collected Marc Casado’s ball and discovered Mbappe, who ran directly to Barça’s defense, created some in front of Balde and scored an end against Szczeszny. Madrid moves first!

Here we go!
15 minutes before kick-off: With a quarter of an hour to go, it’s time to take a look back at the history of head-to-head matches between those teams. . .
40 minutes before the start: Barça looks at its surroundings . . .
Todo en orden ? pic.twitter.com/itmtYqGK3f
1 hour before kick-off: Team news is on, and Real Madrid, as planned, is still the same team that beat Mallorca in the semi-finals. Barca are also not replacements, which means Wojciech Szczesny helps keep his position in order. It turns out that there may be a replenishment of education around 4-3-3.
1 hour and 30 minutes before kick-off: One of the big doubts of this match is whether Dani Olmo will be present. The transitory nature of Barca’s permission to sign him and Pau Victor is causing controversy in Spain, and there is no doubt that Madrid will have something to say if any of the players are particularly concerned here.
