Real Madrid vs Granada: Highlights, Goals & Highlights | League 2023/24

Urine, urine, urine!

Girona at the top of the standings for just a few hours. It’s an incredibly comfortable night for Real Madrid, who are back at the top of La Liga, ahead of the Catalans on goal difference.

Atlético Madrid and Barcelona, who sit third and fourth, respectively, play tomorrow. So Madrid have the added bonus this weekend of seeing one or both of their likeliest title rivals drop points this weekend.

That’s now 15 wins on the trot in games against Granada, and 12 in a row in meetings at the Bernabéu.

As for the Andalusians, their winless streak is 12 games and they are mired in the relegation zone.

If the team from Almeria beats Real Betis tomorrow, Gaizka Garitano’s men will be one point behind Granada. However, it’s a big if: after all, Almeria have yet to win in La Liga this season.

Thanks for reading! Goodbye!

Once again, Paz tried his luck outside the box, but once again he shot comfortably and wide.

Vázquez crosses from the right, but sends his delivery straight down Ferreira’s gullet.

Paz, who opened the scoring for Madrid in midweek, controls and shoots on the return. However, his shot from the most sensitive part of the domain goes wide.

Three minutes of time was added.

Real Madrid had a lot of fun on their own turf for a while. This match is waiting for the final whistle.

Another substitution for the locals, who withdrew Brahim Díaz and brought on the young Nico Paz.

There is a healthy applause for Brahim; well deserved.

Real Madrid replaced Rodrygo, who came off to applause from his fans, and called up 19-year-old Gonzalo García.

This is Gonzalo’s second run-out for the first team; he was given his debut against Cádiz last weekend.

Granada bring Carreras on for Zaragoza, and also replace Boyé with Puertas.

Zaragoza is on the ground and holding his calf. It’s unclear if this is a genuine injury or just a cramp.

He’ll be fine.

Warning for Gumbau from Granada after knocking down Vázquez.

The Bernabéu fans, who clearly feel Gumbau should have gone into Pablo González Fuerte’s notebook earlier, cheer sarcastically.

Granada come forward on a rare attack. From the left, Zaragoza lifts the ball into the box towards Boyé, but it’s too high for the forward and Madrid deal with it.

Again Bellingham intervened in the creation, sending a ball in Valverde’s wake into the box.

The Uruguayan took a throw-in and, with his second, sent a volley towards goal, but Ferreira saved! It was a wonderful reaction from the Granada goalkeeper.

Bellingham lifted a ball from the left for Rodrygo, who cushioned the ball for Vazquez to rush in.

Vázquez got Rodrygo’s sending off for the first time, but sent it wide of Ferreira’s post. A well-crafted gesture; But it’s a shame for the shot.

Real Madrid replaced Joselu with Dani Ceballos.

Gumbau sent the ball past Boyé, who suddenly broke away from the defense and rushed into the box. Rüdiger does a magnificent job preventing Boyé’s shot, and the flag is still raised against the Granada striker. He was offside when Gumbau made the pass.

Brahim controlled the ball well in his own half, before passing it to Joselu on the left. As several men in white shirts rush to sign up for the counterattack, Joselu sends a ball wide and misses the opportunity.

According to Mister Chip, this is the first time in Rodrygo’s Real Madrid career that he has scored in consecutive games for the Merengues.

Granada make double substitutions, Manafá and Uzuni with Petrovic and Weissman.

Bellingham plays down the left towards Joselu and rushes into the Granada box to return the ball. However, Joselu keeps the ball and, eventually, Mendy is penalized for offside.

Real Madrid are in complete control.

Immediately after that second goal, Madrid once more set about setting up camp in the Granada half. When the visitors regain possession, they give it right back to Los Blancos.

Rodrygo is on a real roll in front of goal – that’s now five straight games he’s scored in.

It’s a well-worked goal. Joselu gets deep to send the ball into the box for Brahim to run. At the same time, he puts Bellingham, who is located in a few hectares of area, on the penalty spot.

Incredibly, Bellingham’s shot is saved: Rodrygo is there to sweep the loose ball into the net!

Valverde sent a ball down the left to Rodrygo, who made his great instant control. Advancing towards the Granada area, the Brazilian passed the ball to Mendy, who came to support him. The Frenchman does not, however, have much room for manoeuvre and is muscular on the ball.

For what appears to be the first time in the 45-second frame, Granada put their foot on the ball and caressed it for a long time, albeit in their own half.

However, Gumbau then sent a long ball down the right towards Sanchez’s run and his man couldn’t. Madrid’s ball again.

That’s all the ball for Madrid in Granada’s side since the restart.

Vázquez clips a ball into the box and, on the edge of the area, Bellingham flops to the turf under Miquel’s challenge. No free-kick.

Bellingham sent the ball into the box from the right and when it bounced off two Granada defenders he timidly asked for a penalty for handball, which he did not receive.

A moment later, Brahim cuts in from the right and curls a left-footed shot towards Ferreira’s far top corner, but sends his effort a good yard or two wide.

Urinate! We struck again.

As I mentioned a moment ago, Vázquez replaces Carvajal. There is no replacement at half-time for Granada.

The Real Madrid players return to the Bernabéu pitch and, on the sidelines, Lucas Vázquez enters, who seems to be renewing Dani Carvajal at right-back.

Brahim Díaz (second left) steers the ball past Granada goalkeeper André Ferreira (centre) to open the scoring at the Bernabéu.

Peeep peeep peeep!

Pablo González Fuertes moves at half-time and the home team is satisfied because they have just taken a corner.

The Bernabéu crowd also give the referee a super-sized piece of their mind as he leaves the field with his assistants.

Granada left the task to Zaragoza, who have little chance of getting ahead of Real Madrid’s defence. He takes him from the wing to the box, but when he looks to get into the box to shoot or make a pass, he is dispossessed through Kroos.

We’ve had five minutes of stoppage time at the Bernabéu. This is basically due to Granada’s early change of goalkeeper.

Madrid were looking for a penalty when Miquel seemed to bring down Bellingham. Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes says no. . . and VAR as well. Miquel seems to receive the ball first and the boy second, and the referees give him the advantage of doubt.

Spanish stats guru Mister Chip notes that Brahim has now scored in three of his four starts for Real Madrid this season.

Near! Bellingham is about to score Madrid’s goal.

A sublime move by Brahim, who sent a pass from Mendy behind Bellingham’s trail, freeing the Englishman in the Granada area.

From a tight angle, Bellingham sent his shot past Ferreira, but also in front of the post.

Rüdiger played it up to Joselu, who brought it down on the edge of the Granada area and tried to touch it inside in a run by Rodrygo, who was able to break into the area. It’s a great idea, but Joselu’s ball is cut off. off.

Valverde wins a foul on Ruiz and Kroos has the advantage of throwing a ball into the Granada area.

It’s not the German’s best delivery, though, and it flies behind for a goal-kick.

Just as I write that, Gumbau feeds it to Zaragoza, who has the chance to carry the ball forward on the left. He checks back and plays it to Neva, who is well dispossessed by Brahim.

Before the Real Madrid goal, Granada had managed to organise the odd counter-attack here and there. Since Brahim gave the home side the lead, this risk is almost non-existent.

Carvajal touches the ball to Bellingham, whose first touch is heavy. He stretched to keep possession, but Gonzalez Fuertes felt he was up to Gumbau in the attempt.

Free kick for Granada and Bellingham shakes his head at the referee’s decision. It’s fair to say that the two men don’t get along so far.

Immediately, Madrid advanced in search of a goal and repelled Granada.

From the right-hand channel, Brahim lifts the ball into the area to Joselu, who has peeled off into space at the back post. Joselu volleys it first-time towards goal, but his shot is blocked – and he was offside, anyway.

It’s Madrid’s first real opening, and they take full advantage! From 10 yards outside of the box, Toni Kroos strokes a lovely little ball into the run of Brahim Díaz.

Brahim takes one touch to set himself, and another to poke the ball past the onrushing Ferreira.

Kroos’ pass was really nice.

Two Real Madrid players go into Pablo González Fuertes’ book.

First, Bellingham is cautioned for talking too much to the referee; A few moments later, Rüdiger also sees a yellow card for applauding González Fuertes.

It all stemmed from a challenge by Ricard Sanchez to Bellingham, which the latter considered illegal. Personally, I didn’t.

Kroos sent a ball into the box for Brahim to chase down, but the Madrid striker snubbed and Granada cleared.

On the one hand, Granada’s Gumbau sent a superbly taken free-kick into the box, but no one in the red and white shirt could grab it. He passes by the Lunin police station and exits.

At the other end, Neva does well to nip in in front of Bellingham as the Englishman prepares to get his head on a left-wing ball into the box. In the process of making the clearance, Neva collides with Ferreira as the keeper comes out of his goal.

He’s down and in a bit of pain for a few moments, but he’s soon back on his feet.

According to statistician Opta, Real Madrid’s 14-game winning streak in La Liga against Granada is the longest against a Spanish top-flight team. Only Rayo Vallecano, who lost 17 to Madrid between 2000 and 2018, have suffered more consecutive defeats to Los Blancos.

Madrid created its first moment of real danger. Brahim and Bellingham combined on the edge of the area, before the latter slid down the left for Valverde to cross.

Valverde passes the ball in front of the Granada goal, but he is in front of the whites waiting in the middle.

Kroos gets into midfield and, suddenly, Boyé takes the ball and attacks the Real Madrid defense which reverses. However, Valverde is right to regain the ground and quell the danger.

Naturally, given that we are only a few minutes away, Granada are not prepared for Fernandez’s injury and it takes time for his replacement, André Ferreira, to be ready.

After two or three minutes of waiting, Ferreira replaced Fernandez.

Oh-oh, we’ve got an early rite at the Bernabéu.

Granada goalkeeper Raúl Fernández has dropped to the turf and can’t go on. He’s hurt his back, it appears.

I told you before that it looked like Granada were going to play with five in defence, but the visitors seem to have opted for four in defence in a 4-4-2 formation.

Real Madrid won an early corner down the right that Kroos passed short to Rodrygo. The Brazilian tries to place an outgoing ball in the danger zone, but his delivery is blocked.

It was a brilliant start to Granada’s game. Bryan Zaragoza got into the left channel, before sliding a low ball into Lucas Boye’s path to signing.

Boyé wastes no time in cutting the ball back to the penalty spot, but he can’t find anyone in a red and white shirt.

Urinate! We are on our way.

The groups faint, to the sound of the Real Madrid anthem “La Décima”.

Before kick-off, we’ll have a minute’s silence as a mark of respect for former Madrid director Luis Blasco and the Spanish actress Concha Velasco, who have both passed away.

If you’re still wondering how to watch Real Madrid vs Granada, let me turn to our advisor about your TV and streaming options.

We’re half an hour away from kick-off in Madrid.

In addition to winning their last 11 home games against Granada, Real Madrid has won 14 in a row against the visitors, if we add the games played in the Andalusian stadium, the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.

The last time Madrid lost to Granada was in February 2013, when an own goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, among others, gave Los Nazaríes a 1-0 win at Los Carmenes.

By the way, we also follow live the draw for Euro 2024, which is about to start in Hamburg.

Comparisons with Judas:

“I’ve never seen Di Stefano play. In my last press conference I made comparisons with Zidane and well, I would say I was surprised. . . Like the first time I saw Kaká. No I say that Bellingham is the same. “He’s a type of player like Kaka, but they have qualities in common. “

Do you know your time as coach of La Real?

“I don’t know. . . What I do know is that it has been a positive moment. In fact, I feel supported by everyone, but you can’t start resting on your laurels, because there will be difficult moments and we have to be calm. “in a position for them.

Kepa:

“He’s available, he’s ready to play. But [on Saturday] we will keep [Andriy] Lunin in goal and [Kepa] will have the week to think about [next Saturday’s La Liga clash against] Betis.

It is Mr Bellingham who is making the headlines, but Rodrygo Goes is in very good form.

The Brazilian has scored in his last four games for Madrid, scoring six goals in that span.

Here, courtesy of Real Madrid’s social media team, is the squad’s arrival at the Bernabéu a short while ago.

For Granada, the major team news is that Bryan Zaragoza, a player whose form this season has earned him his Spain debut, returns from suspension for the visitors.

It rather looks like Medina has gone with five at the back today.

Medina’s first XI from Granada is: Fernández, Manafá, Ricard Sánchez, Miquel, Torrente, Neva, Gumbau, Ruiz, Zaragoza, Boyé, Uzuni.

This is Medina’s first training session in Spanish football, but the Uruguayan has enjoyed La Liga since he became a player.

In fact, he has already scored for Cádiz at the Bernabéu, although defeated. In January 2006, he opened the scoring in a match that Real Madrid won 3–1 thanks to goals from Roberto Carlos, David Beckham and Robinho.

“Near-perfect performance” needed

“We know how smart they are, they have skill and they have fun, but we also have the chance to show what we’re made of. The only way to dominate a game against a team like Real Madrid is to keep the combination and control to put an almost perfect game into combination.

First week of work:

“It’s been incredible. We’ve had a week of smart work, doubling down on the basic things we need them to put into practice in the field. The guys were very receptive to our ideas. They seem motivated and eager to leave.

A visit to the Bernabéu, it can be said, is not the one the doctor prescribed for Granada. The Nasrids have not beaten Real Madrid for just under a century.

Granada’s last victory at Madrid came in January 1974.

Since then, they have lost in consecutive visits to the Spanish capital.

While Madrid are on an unbeaten run, the visitors from Granada are winless in 11 league games and sacked their coach, Paco Lopez, after last weekend’s defeat to Alaves.

Lopez repositioned himself through Alexander Medina, who was tasked with lifting the Andalusians from 19th place in La Liga, three points off safety.

Carlo Ancelotti makes just the one change to the team that started the win over Napoli, with midfielder Dani Ceballos making way for striker Joselu. As promised, Bellingham is fit to start.

Madrid have the following injury list: Thibaut Courtois, Éder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Vinícius Júnior, Arda Güler and Luka Modric.

The Real Madrid line-up is as follows: Lunin, Carvajal, Rüdiger, Alaba, Mendy, Valverde, Kroos, Bellingham, Brahim, Rodrygo, Joselu.

Wednesday’s win over Napoli also saw Real Madrid’s first goal for 19-year-old Nico Paz, son of former Argentine Pablo Paz.

Paz is again in Madrid’s matchday squad today.

My colleagues Andy Hall and Calum Roche have put together a profile of the teenager.

After beating Napoli on Wednesday, Real Madrid head into today’s clash at the Bernabéu on a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Madrid’s midweek win over the Partenopei, which saw Jude Bellingham score his 15th goal in 16 appearances for the club, made sure that Los Merengues will go through to the Champions League last 16 as group winners.

The 14-time European champions will be contesting Champions League knockout football for the 27th (TWENTY-SEVENTH) straight season.

Real Madrid crowned the matchday 15 standings after beating Girona on goal difference thanks to the Catalans’ draw in the top flight against Athletic Club on Monday.

However, Girona have now moved provisionally back to the summit by beating Valencia 2-1 today.

Cristhian Stuani’s brace at Montilivi secured victory for Míchel’s side, who have won 12 of 15 league games this season. Including seven wins in their last eight.

Real Madrid already have a lot of injury concerns, but their player of the moment, Jude Bellingham, will start today.

After injuring his ankle in the win over Napoli in midweek, the Englishman was unable to work out yesterday, but coach Carlo Ancelotti told reporters: “It’s fine. He’s taken a small blow and we didn’t need to threaten to make it worse. “But he’s fine, I’m fine and I’m going to play.
