Real Madrid “will wait for” Trent Alexander-Arnold “to talk to Liverpool and explain whether he stays or goes” before making a decision, according to Matteo Moretto, who is familiar with La Liga and Serie A.
The Reds may face major changes in the coming years, with Jurgen Klopp announcing that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season to take a break from football.
Klopp has been brilliant in his nine years at the club, winning the Premier League and Champions League, while also turning Liverpool into a normal title rival.
But they will be shoes that everyone will be able to fill next season and beyond, as former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has been the bookmakers’ favourite to update Klopp lately.
One possible replacement for Klopp is for some of his current players to stick with him with reports claiming Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Alexnader-Arnold’s contract situation.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shown that Real Madrid are interested in the Liverpool defender, but it is unclear if Alexander-Arnold is fit to move.

Romano wrote in X last week: “Real Madrid are following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Liverpool. The existing agreement expires on June 25 and there are no ongoing negotiations at this time.
“Liverpool have shown no willingness to do so at the moment. So far there is no indication about the player ratings.
And now, La Liga and Serie A expert Moretto insists that Alexander-Arnold needs to “see if the situations are right for him to need to sign a new deal” at Liverpool before deciding on a possible move to Real Madrid.
Moretto wrote in his column Trapped in offside: “At the moment there is no news about Dani Carvajal, but with Lucas Vázquez they will present him with a new contract, because they need him to continue. It’s still not 100 percent clear what Vazquez needs. “do.
“He’s 100 per cent satisfied at Real Madrid, but he’s waiting to see if he’ll have a sufficient role in the team next season. The two sides will discuss this shortly.
“With Alexander-Arnold, he will first have to speak to Liverpool to see if the situations are right for him to need to sign a new deal, or if he needs to try something new.
“Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on what happens with him. They will wait for Alexander-Arnold to speak to Liverpool and explain whether he stays or goes first.
Moretto’s comments report from The Sun claiming that Real Madrid are “ready to test” Liverpool with a £75m bid for Alexander-Arnold.
