Toni Kroos admits that there were “malicious celebrations” in real Madrid squad’s WhatsApp chat after the Barcelona Champions League fights.
The Catalan giants were eliminated through Bayern Munich in last week’s quarter-finals, 8-2 to crown a lousy season.
The result led the club’s management to temporarily fire manager Quique Setién, whose mandate also saw Barcelona squander La Liga’s name in favor of rival Real Madrid.
And although the whites had already left the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City, midfielder Kroos’ star says there is a festive atmosphere when Barcelona crashed out of competition.
“You couldn’t show everything that was said [in public], but you can believe there was no pity,” Kroos told the ‘Einfach bad Luppen’ podcast.
“There have been malicious celebrations. “

In the run-up to the quarter-finals, Roma lost 4-1 in the first leg at Camp Nou, but a notorious stadio Olimpico saw the Giallorossi win 3-0 to sink Barcelona and make it to the quarter-finals.

Reflecting on the match, Kroos added: “People were screaming in the hallways. Everyone here sees it that way. “
The World Cup winner also admitted that he is still “bored” of the 4–2 defeat to Manchester City, but is pleased that his former club, Bayern Munich, has a good chance of winning his sixth Champions League title.
When asked if he had accepted Real’s last exit, Kroos replied: “Yes, absolutely, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t bother me anymore.
“Real Madrid has its position more than in ’16, that’s what I see too.
“It looks a lot like Bayern and would surely be perfect. The effects are enough to make Bayern a favorite. I think Bayern will win. They’re the ones with the remaining teams. “
