Real Sociedad will be no stranger to interest in Martin Zubimendi, as the 25-year-old continues to show season after season that he has the quality to compete at the highest level. This summer it will once again be on the attractions of Europe’s elite.
While Barcelona no longer appear to be a suitor for his €60 million clause, Bayern Munich are interested in Zubimendi, according to BILD (via Sport). If Joshua Kimmich leaves the Allianz Arena, Zubimendi will be one of the main contenders to renew him.
In addition, Charlie Watts has told Caught Offside that if Arsenal lose Jorginho or Thomas Partey this summer, the latter for whom they are open to giving, then they would also go after Zubimendi. Watts says any deal will be “difficult” as it is still transparent if Zubimendi would be open to a decision.
The Spanish foreigner has just tasted the Champions League for the first time with local club La Real, but it looks set to miss next season. Zubimendi has a strong connection to Real and would certainly have left last summer if he had. Arsenal and Bayern will no doubt try to convince him that this is the next step for him, who deserves a mandatory stage this summer.
