Arsenal is reportedly activating an extension clause in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract, even though its existing agreement expires in 2021.
The Gunners have been stuck in contract breakout with Gabon in recent months, and the North London club is willing to tie him up to new terms.
It turns out that Aubameyang, which is being observed through Inter Milan and Barcelona, keeps its characteristics open and has not yet taken a resolution on its future.
The power turns out to be in the hands of the striker, given that he can leave the club on the loose in 2021, if Arsenal chooses not to bet on him in this summer’s movement window.
But for Athletic, Arsenal has some advantages.
One report states that Aubameyang has a one-year extension clause in its current contact, Arsenal can remain at the club until 2022.
The problem, however, is that activating the clause would put the Gunners with some monetary pressure, given Aubameyang’s earnings.
Not only that, but it would force a player I’m going to leave to stay at the club, somehow contrary to his will, which can disturb the harmony of the locker room.
It is for those two reasons that Arsenal has resisted both activating the clause.
Aubameyang will no doubt speak to the gunners’ leaders this month and, despite everything, their future.
His Arsenal teammate Alexandre Lacazette recently asked for him to get off the stage and admitted that he is in the dark like everyone else.
