Red Bull announced on Wednesday that a complaint filed against Formula One team principal Christian Horner “has been dismissed” after an investigation, allowing him to continue in his current role.

“The independent investigation into the allegations against Mr Horner has ended and Red Bull can verify that it has been dismissed,” a Red Bull spokesperson said in a statement.

“The complainant has the right to appeal. Red Bull is confident that the investigation is fair, thorough and impartial. The investigation report is secure and comprises the personal details of the parties and third parties who contributed to the investigation, which is why we will not be commenting further out of respect for all involved,” the spokesperson said. “Red Bull will continue to strive to achieve the highest standards in the workplace. “

The news comes just ahead of the first race of the 2024 season this weekend in Bahrain. Horner, 50, had denied the allegations and insisted on continuing with his usual activities, appearing at Red Bull’s car launch on Feb. 15 and at the Bahrain track for pre-season testing last week.

Horner has led the Red Bull F1 team since its inception in 2005, enjoying a string of ordinary successes, racking up 113 race wins.

In a short time, Red Bull has won seven drivers’ championships: 4 with Sebastian Vettel, from 2010 to 2013, and 3 in a row with defending champion Max Verstappen, from 2021 to 2023. He has turned six of them into constructors’ championships, narrowly losing to Mercedes in 2021.

According to early indications, Verstappen and Red Bull are once again the favourites for the 2024 season.

Red Bull announced in early February an “independent investigation” through “an external specialist lawyer”, with a spokesperson mentioning “certain recent allegations” specifying what they were. The Austrian energy drink company said at the time that it “takes these issues incredibly seriously” and would conclude the investigation “as soon as possible. “

Since then, rumours about the allegations have spread through F1 media and European tabloids. NBC News has independently shown the main points of the allegations or the identity of the user who made them.

Verstappen’s current contract with Red Bull runs until 2028. The team’s other F1 driver is Sergio Perez, whose contract expires after the 2024 season.
