Carlos Sainz is one of the most sought-after drivers in the F1 driver market heading into 2025. The Spaniard’s future remains in doubt following Ferrari’s decision to sign Lewis Hamilton for next season. However, it turns out that the 29-year-old could be used through Red Bull to gain influence over Sergio Perez.
Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull is at risk for next season. The Mexican driver has yet secured a contract with Milton Keynes. Christian Horner had said 16 drivers were interested in replacing the 34-year-old, and Sainz could be one of them. .
However, Carlos Sainz would be Audi’s first pick for next season. The German automaker has reportedly given the Spaniard a two-week ultimatum. Red Bull Motorsport representative Dr Helmut Marko has stated that Red Bull is adapting to Audi’s offer to Sainz.
However, team principal Christian Horner recently revealed that Milton Keynes had no idea of Sainz’s offer to Audi. As such, one of the two Red Bull executives publicly lied to fans.
It’s clear that Red Bull has publicly announced its goal to take a look at the features to upgrade Perez. If Marko’s words are true and Milton Keynes cancels Audi’s contract, Christian Horner could have tried to limit the damage by calling it speculation. As Horner’s comments would recommend that Red Bull can do a lot for Carlos Sainz to upgrade Checo.
Previously, Red Bull was rumoured to be laughing at Perez’s requests for a two-year extension. It was Helmut Marko in particular who would have felt that Sergio Perez was performing better under the pressure of a new deal. As such, this may be the most likely moment to explain the reason for the contradiction in the comments made through Red Bull’s management. It should be noted, however, that neither Horner nor Marko have direct statements from each.
It’s clear that Red Bull is talking to Carlos Sainz. However, Sergio Perez is still in a better position when it comes to playing the moment to mess with Max Verstappen. Therefore, Red Bull has each and every reason to look at and put Checo in. under pressure, if it can lead to better results. However, it remains to be seen whether Perez will get an extension from Red Bull for 2025.
