Red Bull Salzburg vs Real Madrid: Dreams of Youth

The seventh edition of the UEFA Youth League comes to its top stage in Nyon, with Real Madrid facing Red Bull Salzburg in the semi-finals on Saturday night.

The whites, despite their incredible Champions League successes in recent times, have not yet made their call for the miners’ trophy, the two Barcelona and Chelsea titles each, Porto and Salzburg each.

In the other semi-final, Ajax faces Benfica when two other European heavyweights depart in search of their first good fortune in the competition.

The semi-finals have proved to be a bridge too far for Real Madrid in recent years, it has reached the finals 4 in more events than anyone else in the Youth League with 4 semi-final appearances.

Luis Miguel Ramis took him to this level in 2014, where he lost to Benfica.

Santiago Solari did the same two years later to lose 3–1 to Paris Saint-Germain, while Guti led them to a 4–2 loss to a Benfica team animated through Joao Felix in 2017.

This year, however, valdebebas are convinced that this may be their year.

They already have Juventus (3-1) and Inter (3-0) en route to the semi-finals.
