Rumours surrounding Adrian Newey’s future career suggest that the legendary F1 car designer could sign for another team.
Rumours emerged from several primary reports on Thursday that Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey was on the verge of parting ways with the Milton Keynes-based team.
Newey, who has been with Red Bull since 2007 after leaving McLaren, is said to have been contemplating a new team, due to his dissatisfaction with internal politics within the organisation in recent months, following an internal investigation into team boss Christian Horner. .
With Red Bull GmbH rejecting the investigation, a struggle of forces became apparent when Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, claimed Horner’s job while the option of a Helmut Marko suspension led Max himself to make transparent his stance that, without the Austrian, his own Red Bull would last a long time. Running would be uncertain.
With the worker around whom the investigation was focused suspended through Red Bull while internal investigations were carried out, Newey is said to have grown tired of the turmoil and recently rumours have reported that Aston Martin and Ferrari are making a lot of money to secure his signature. .
But the rumours intensified on Thursday when German newspaper Auto Motor und Sport, Britain’s BBC and Dutch publication De Telegraaf reported that Newey was close to parting ways with Red Bull.
But resources told PlanetF1. com that there was no deal in place for Newey’s departure from Red Bull and that the 65-year-old had given any form of ice that he planned to leave the team before his contract ended.
Newey signed a new contract last year that will keep him under contract through Red Bull until the end of 2025 and a request for comment from Red Bull clarified the team’s position.
“Adrian has a contract until at least the end of 2025,” a Red Bull spokesperson told PlanetF1. com.
“We don’t know if he’ll join any other team. “
However, this leaves the door open to the option of Newey resigning on his own and taking the monetary hit of quietly staying away until 2026, when he will be able to return to the paddock, while the option of a full retirement from F1 is also an option. This is an option if Newey makes the decision that he does not need to continue racing for Red Bull in F1.
Newey has shifted some of his attention to the Red Bull RB17 hypercar assignment in recent weeks, in the F1 team’s pit box at the Japanese Grand Prix and is expected to reappear on the pit wall at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix.
