Rehanne Skinner praises Tottenham’s ‘ambitious’ plans and points to the first part at WSL

And the new Spurs boss talked about the club’s “positive plans” for the long run of his first game at the helm.

Skinner assumed his role as Tottenham’s coach after the dismissal of joint head coaches Juan Amorós and Karen Hills, with the team lately from the back of the table.

Prior to his appointment, England’s former number two Phil Neville had enjoyed wonderful good fortune in north London as deputy director of his local rival, Arsenal.

While running there, former Three Lions coach helped the Gunners win two WSL trophies, two League Cups and one FA Cup over a three-year era in 2010.

And Tottenham’s manager, whose team will face Brighton in the league, expects his team to progress as he builds on the foundations laid through his predecessors.

Skinner told Tottenham’s official website: “I think it’s vital to see where the club comes from and the foundations that were built from the former coaches who are vital here.

“Now we just want to get more out of what those guys have done with a lot of time and effort.

“The team is a team. There’s a lot of pleasure here.

“And the most important thing for me is to check to make sure I take credit for all of those players’ reports and make sure we use them for our merit as a team.

“It can move us to where we need to go and get obvious effects on the games and start moving forward with that.

“I am very pleased to hear how the club embraces the women’s team and how they need to advance to the Spurs family circle. “

Tottenham, who took a respectable seventh place last season, has not yet signed a WSL victory this season.

And the team, which made the headlines this summer after completing a very good transitory contract for American star Alex Morgan, scored just two problems in its first seven games.

Skinner is confident that his team, which includes English defender and Player of the Year Ashleigh Neville, will oppose his fortunes.

Skinner added: “There is the effects aspect of things and progress to the most sensitive thing on the table.

“Obviously, we have to check to end up in the most sensitive part of the table. It’s something I’ve already talked about with the players.

“This is anything that would be a big step for a club that is new to the WSL right now.

“But even though I say the club is new, the players have an amazing experience, so we have to get that out now and move on and keep competing at the most sensible table. “
