Rennes loses Ligue 1 undefeated after defeat to Angers

PARIS (AP) – Rennes lost their undefeated record in the French league after Angers 2-1 at home on Friday.

The defeat leaves Rennes in 3rd place, starter Paris Saint-Germain and leader Lille, who are the only undefeated team left.

Things went good for Rennes in the 17th minute, when forward Adrien Hunou scored from close range after midfielder Flavien Tait stopped.

Angers tied for 26 when the former Southampton winger Sofiane Boufal hit the house with a detour after clinging to striker Stéphane Bahoken’s pass, and advanced to 57 thanks to midfielder Angelo Fulgini’s opportunistic effort.

Rennes missed opportunities in the last five minutes as Angers clung to a victory to move to sixth place.

On Saturday, Marseille and PSG are looking for confidence-boosting victories after poor performances in the Champions League this week.

Marseille, sixth place, which lost 1-0 to Olympiakos, is in Lorient. Then home to Manchester United 2-1, PSG receives dijon, the last.

Lille are two transparent issues of PSG and Rennes for Sunday to Nice.
