The Olympic torch relay has arrived in Burgundy! This Thursday, July 11, the Yonne was in the center of attention. Seven cities were crossed during the day: Avallon, Vézelay, Sens, Saint-Fargeau, Migennes, Chablis and, despite everything, Auxerre. Among the most notable, the legendary AJ Auxerre coach, Guy Roux, carried the flame at 6 p. m.

19:30 It’s the end of this day. Tomorrow, Friday 12 July, the flame will travel along the Côte d’Or, from Semur-en-Auxois to Dijon. He will then head to Aube, Paris and then Picardy before returning to Île-de-France for the opening rite of the Games on July 26.

All the department? For this day, 180,000 euros were invested in Yonne. “It is above all a human burden, many hours of volunteering, hours of work, but I need to reassure everyone, he did not charge 100,000 euros,” says the mayor.

In Yonne, today there are just over a hundred porters who take turns. Tomorrow there will be 81, in the Côte d’Or.   The Games indicate that the runners are decided “based on their commitment and their actions. ” There are athletes, but also businessmen, associations, local personalities. . .

This dad came with his daughter, who made her own torch at school for the occasion. “I wanted to bring him to spend this exceptional day that we will only enjoy once in a lifetime. “It’s great, especially in a small town like ours, we don’t see old events. ” he explains it to us.  

“It’s great to see everyone else happy, it’s a replacement for the last few weeks, I think it’s great!” adds the viewer.

Next departure in fifteen minutes from Vézelay, 16 kilometers away.
