Slot joined Feyenoord in 2021 and has since led the Dutch club to winning the Eredivisie and winning the Dutch Cup.
Slot showed ESPN on Thursday that he has the task in Liverpool, according to ESPN’s Mark Ogden.
“It’s clear to me that I’d like to move to Liverpool,” Slot said, according to Ogden. “Now I’m waiting to see if the clubs can reach an agreement. I’m very confident about that. “
Feyenoord first rejected an initial payment for Slot worth $9. 6 million, according to David Ornstein and Adam Crafton of The Athletic.
Terms of the final deal were unclear, but are expected to be around $12. 4 million, according to Liverpool. com’s Liam Prenderville.
Slot has a contract with Feyenoord until 2026, but his deal does not include a release clause that would charge Liverpool additional money, Prenderville said.
Liverpool had in the past sued Xavi Alonso, who turned down an offer from Liverpool to stay at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, according to Ornstein and James Pearce of The Athletic.
Klöpp announced his upcoming departure from Liverpool in January saying he was “running out of energy,” according to ESPN’s Tom Hamilton.
The Liverpool manager, who led the club to the Premier League name in 2020, said he would take at least a year off as manager and would “never manage any other club in England other than Liverpool,” according to Hamilton.
Klöpp’s departure will most likely cause a wave of changes between the Liverpool and Feyenoord managers.
Slot plans to bring Feyenoord assistant Sipke Hulshof to Liverpool and will also bring functional manager Ruben Peeters and analyst Etienne Reijnen with him, according to the Mirror’s Kieran King.
