The NBA and NBPA briefed the groups on the rules for players to bring visitors to the bubble near Orlando, Florida, after the first playoff circular.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, a memorandum sent to NBA groups wednesday said players could invite members of the family and “long-running non-public friends” circle.
Wojnarowski added that each player will be allowed to bring 4 visitors, the number possibly exceeded for the children. In addition, visitors will be able to travel on team charters after testing negative for COVID-19 and will be able to attend games in person.
According to Wojnarowski, the note describes a user who is not allowed to enter the bubble as follows: “Anyone the player has not met the user before or with whom the player has had limited face-to-face interactions. (For example) Array.. known through the player only on social media or an intermediary.”
The 2019-2020 NBA crusade closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the season did not resume until last July at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
So far, the bubble concept has worked almost perfectly. Players who have to leave the bubble must be quarantined on their return and go through a negative COVID-19 check several times before joining their teams. Since the resumption of the season, no player has tested positive for coronavirus.
There is a strong argument for and against having visitors in the bubble.
On the one hand, it’s dangerous to attract more people from all over the country. This threat can be mitigated by pre-testing, but there is no guarantee that it will not bring the virus with it.
At the same time, players will be away from their families for more than a month until the playoff time begins on August 31.
While it turns out that the plan to allow visitors to enter the bubble is well on track, it will be a very revised resolution if you do something that jeopardizes the NBA playoffs.
