DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — England forward Jadon Sancho is reportedly on the verge of returning to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United.

German tabloid Bild reported on Thursday that the clubs had agreed the loan of Sancho, 23, until the end of the season, with some minor details to be finalised.

Bild reported that Dortmund had to pay 3 million euros ($3. 3 million) for the loan.

Sancho has fallen out of favour with United manager Erik ten Hag and has made 3 league appearances as a substitute this season. He hasn’t played since August.

“I can’t say anything about that,” Ten Hag said Thursday when asked about any deal with Dortmund. “We have to wait and see how things are going.”

Sancho joined United from Dortmund for €85 million (then $100 million) in 2021. He scored goals in 59 English Premier League games.

Sancho has already played for four years at Dortmund, scoring 50 goals in 137 competitive games. He joined the German club from Manchester City in 2017.

Dortmund have been inconsistent this season, possibly topping out of the Champions League by completing a no-nonsense arrangement with Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Newcastle, while also disappointing in the Bundesliga, where they have not won any of their last four games. After 16 rounds, the team already has 15 leaders in the league, Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund finished 2023 without a win in any of their six matches in all competitions.

Sancho has 3 in 23 appearances for England.
