Barcelona striker Luis Suárez does not aim to leave the club until his contract expires at the end of the 2020–21 season.
In an interview this week, Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu said the club was looking to build for the future. The president under the chimney said that only Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Clement Lenglet and Marc-André ter Stegen were downgraded.
This threw Suarez’s long career through the air, with reports linking him to a return to his former club, Ajax.
However, Mundo Deportivo now reports that the Uruguayan ace has made it clear that he will have to leave Barcelona, at least until the summer of 2021, when his current contract expires.
The new Barcelona technician, Ronald Koeman, has already hinted at his first press conference that a reconstruction is taking place at Camp Nou. The former Southampton technician also said difficult decisions would have to be made.
Koeman quoted on Barcelona’s official online website saying:
Luis Suárez is one of the many players whose long career in Barcelona is a subject of hypothesis at the moment, but the Uruguayan is determined to do the opposite of the skeptics and make the already illustrious Barcelona career bigger.

Barcelona continue to recover from the 8–2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, in which Suarez scored a goal after beating Jerome Boateng.
