Roma get a reduction in Huijsen’s loan, but the player’s long career remains in the hands of Juventus

Roma have activated a clause that guarantees them a loan payment for Juventus-owned defender Dean Huijsen.

The 18-year-old is one of Turin’s most promising youngsters. He joined Max Allegri’s first team last summer but has managed to make an appearance for the Bianconeri this season.

Therefore, control decided to relinquish it in January. While he was about to sign for Frosinone, a call from Jose Mourinho tipped the scales in Roma’s favour.

The Dutchman has signed a six-month loan with the capital in the amount of 650,000 euros.

But as Calciomercato explains, Roma will now save €250,000 after handing Huijsen his tenth for the club.

The teenager came on in the second half against Monza, triggering the clause.

This clause was intended to inspire the Romans to give the defender more time to play.

Thus, Juventus will only raise 400,000 euros for the operation, but the club’s administrators will be happy with the progress of the player, who could also sign for the Spain Under-21s.

However, Huijsen is expected to return to Turin this summer, as Roma have the option to make him permanent.

Therefore, if the Giallorossi intend to remain the young defender beyond the current campaign, they will have to negotiate a new deal with Juventus.

It remains to be seen whether the Bianconeri would be willing to heed offers for a player who has now established himself as one of Serie A’s biggest prospects.
