Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Roma, the Serie A club has announced.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager, who led Roma to the Europa League final last season, will leave the club “with immediate effect”.
Roma, who have won just one of their last five Serie A games to finish ninth in the table, said on their official website: “AS Roma can verify that Jose Mourinho and his formation will leave the club promptly. “
Club Dan and Ryan Friedkin added: “We would like to thank Jose on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his fans and effort since joining the club.
“We will have good memories of his time at Roma, but we believe that a quick replacement is the most productive thing for the club.
“We wish Jose and his assistants all the best in their long-term endeavors. “
