Negotiations between Noah Okafor and RB Leipzig appear to be temporarily progressing and the striker is now expected to undergo a medical today.
Okafor’s call had come up in various reports before the January window, as someone under Milan’s control could leave to lose budget and a position in the team for a complex new signing.
It has temporarily become clear that the Bundesliga is a possible destination for him and that Leipzig was the main candidate to sign him, while the formula and numbers of the agreement are debated.
Now, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Milan and Leipzig ‘have agreed on a loan deal’ for the Swiss forward which actually includes an option to buy which is substantially higher than what was initially reported.
The German club will cover Okafor’s full salary and they will have the option – not an obligation – to buy him in the summer for ‘around €25/28m based on several factors’. Travel and medical are scheduled for today, the journalist adds.
Okafor developed a knack for contributing with big goals off the bench but ultimately rarely started for Milan. In his 18 months at the club he has scored seven goals and added five assists in 52 appearances.
