Barcelona has sacked Eric Abidal as sporting director, announced the club on a Tuesday, a day after the dismissal of coach Quique Setien.
“FC Barcelona and Eric Abidal have reached an agreement for the termination of the contract between them,” the club said on their website.
Like Setién, Abidal, a former foreign defender from France, paid the penalty after Barca ended a season of internal clashes by giving the la Liga name to Real Madrid and then suffering a humiliating 8–2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Angry supporters were hoping to be arrested immediately, but that option was ruled out, meaning the president under fire, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will continue.
