Following on from the opening weekend of the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season at Donington Park last week, Matthew Graham led the way in his Redline Racing Porsche with a time of 1:28.157, just 0.089 seconds ahead of his team mate Scott McKenna as competitors hit the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
2014 champion and runner-up last year, Josh Webster ended the day in third place with his Team Parker team mate Harry King finishing just five-thousandths of a second behind. If the action in the opening weekend was anything to go by it looks like this weekend at Brands Hatch will see another fierce inter-team battle.
Another driver to look out for this weekend is Ross Wylie in the IN2 Racing machine, the ‘Flying Scotsman put in an impressive performance at the opening race of the season as he pushed through from the back 20-car grid to finish seventh overall, collecting the fastest lap on the way to the chequered flag. Wylie ended todays practice in fifth place, just 0.381 seconds behind the leader.
Argentinian driver Dorian Mansilla continues to learn the British tracks, ending the session in a strong sixth place for Team Redline Racing. Mansilla has only had a brief experience of the circuit prior to todays sessions after completing a private test earlier this year.
The JTR Rookie duo of Sam MacLeod and Lorcan Hanafin finished in seventh and eighth ahead of podium finished Esmee Hawkey, who led the field for the ProAm class in ninth overall.
Mark Kimber rounded out the top ten for Team Parker, with all ten drivers within a second of leader Graham.
Aaron Mason was the second fastest driver in the ProAm class with a twelfth place overall, Ryan Ratcliffe was the third fastest in class with an overall time good enough for fifteenth.
Lucky Khera finished fastest of the Am class competitors with thirteenth overall, half a second ahead of 2019 Am class champion Justin Sherwood; John Ferguson rounded out top three in class with a sixteenth overall.
