William “Rowdy” Harrell, a team member at the NASCAR booth and a former supporter at the University of Alabama, died Tuesday in a car accident with his wife Blakely. He’s 30 years old.
The twist of fate that killed Harrell and his wife occurred in Florida when the two celebrated their honeymoon after their wedding on Saturday.
The 30-year-old has worked for Hendrick Motorsports for more than 8 seasons as a tire transporter, most recently with team No. 88 NASCAR Cup Series with Alex Bowman. He has also been a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion as a pit team. JR Motorsports member.
Prior to running with NASCAR, Harrell won three national championships with the University of Alabama as an intermediate supporter. Greg Ives, harrell’s team leader for more than six seasons, did the following on the Hendrick Motorsports website.
