KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Alabama coach Nick Saban said junior catcher Jaylen Waddle will be out for the rest of the season after injuring his right ankle in Saturday’s kick-out of Tennessee.
“It’s a disgrace because this guy is a wonderful player,” Saban told CBS at halftime. “It’s exciting for school football to see a guy play like that. I hate that he gets hurt with a component like that. You’re not willing to kick the ball when you’re so deep in the finish area, but he’s a wonderful player, so you should let him use his judgment. “
Waddle started and went to Alabama 15 when Kenneth George Jr. , Waddle’s right foot got caught between the grass and George’s body and turned around. Waddle helped out of the box without putting any weight on his right foot before being transported to the locker room. .
Waddle has been one of the clearing returns in the country for more than two years and has rarely had the ball kicked this year.
He had 733 yards of ground clearing in his career, taking sixth place in Alabama history. Waddle has lately led all of Crimson Tide’s comebacks with an average of 19. 3 yards consistent with the return of clearing in his career, nearly six years more than the moment.
