KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Alabama coach Nick Saban said junior receiver Jaylen Waddle has a sprained ankle with a fracture and will be out for the rest of the season if he wants to operate.
Waddle was injured when he left for Alabama 15, and tackled him through Kenneth George Jr. , and Waddle’s right foot became trapped between the grass and George’s body. Waddle helped out of the box without putting any weight on his right foot before being transported to the locker room.
Saban said after a 48-17 victory over Tennessee that it was an unhappy time for Waddle and his family, who probably need surgery.
“We will take him back privately to the doctors and we will take him back to Birmingham and see what we want to do right away,” Saban said. “If that’s the case, and we’re pretty sure it is, he will be out this year. “
Waddle has been one of the clearing returns in the country for more than two years and has rarely had the ball kicked this year.
Alabama catcher John Metchie III said wasting the game with Waddle was difficult. No. 2 Alabama ended up beating Tennessee 48-17 without Waddle.
“I think we responded well by focusing on the most, which is the next game on our hands,” Metchie said.
Waddle had 733 yards in career clearing retracements, taking sixth place in Alabama history. Waddle has lately led all of Crimson Tide’s setbacks with an average of 19. 3 yards consistent with the run-off recoil, nearly six years more than the moment.
He started this season with at least 120 yards receiving in the first four games and led Alabama with 557 yards in just 25 receptions. Waddle averaged 22. 3 yards consistent with the reception and had four touchdowns.
