Lyon have completed the signing of striker Said Benrahma, who is on loan until the end of the season from West Ham.
The Ligue 1 side accused the Hammers of “incomprehensible behaviour” and “disrespect” after the move failed to materialise by the deadline.
However, Lyon CEO Laurent Prud’homme later said FIFA had validated the club’s request for a transfer certificate abroad with the deal, despite everything announced on Friday.
Sky Sports News understands that West Ham are incredibly disappointed with the claims made through Lyon on Thursday night, which have been described as “totally wrong and damaging”.
Sources close to the club told Sky Sports News that Lyon’s accusations of deep disrespect and incomprehensible behaviour were unfounded, as evidenced by the settlement of this deal.
The deal is now shown and is a loan with the option to make the move permanent this summer, totalling more than £15 million.
Benrahma travelled to Lyon in a bid to complete the move before the French window closed at 10pm on Thursday.
However, despite Lyon claiming the deal had been done, the move may not be finalized, with the French club accusing West Ham of being to blame for the split.
“Olympique Lyonnais are very pleased to welcome Saïd Benrahma to Lyon on Thursday to finalise his transfer from West Ham. The two clubs have signed a transition agreement and Olympique Lyonnais has received the DNCG’s agreement to allow the transfer to proceed smoothly and transparently.
However, at the beginning of the afternoon, while Olympique Lyonnais had fed all administrative know-how into FIFA’s compromised platform (FIFA TMS), West Ham had never introduced any technical procedures on their part, despite repeated reminders from OL and incessant mutual telephone communication.
“In the absence of this reciprocal action on the part of the English club and following this incomprehensible behaviour, raising questions, the international transfer certificate could not be requested before closing time.
“Olympique Lyonnais deeply regrets this situation and this decision, demonstrating a profound lack of respect on the part of West Ham towards the institution and the player.
“The club reserves the right to initiate all appropriate procedures to complete the transaction at a later date and hold West Ham accountable if Array. “
West Ham responded with their own statement: “West Ham United can verify that the deadline agreement for Saïd Benrahma to register at Olympique Lyonnais has not been finalised before the deadline, and that the deal cannot be closed before 23:00. “
West Ham proved on Friday that Pablo Fornals has joined Real Betis on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old returns to Spain after four-and-a-half seasons with the Hammers. He made 203 appearances and scored 23 in east London.
Real Betis had claimed that a computer glitch thwarted their attempt to sign Fornals from the Hammers in the first place.
The Spanish midfielder had agreed a £7m transfer to the LaLiga club on deadline day, but the deal fell through.
However, Betis general director Ramon Alarcon is hopeful that the deal with Fornals will still go through.
He told Spanish journalists: “There’s a last-minute challenge with Fornals, we think it’s a PC challenge.
“Betis sent all the documents and on time and it looks like West Ham had a problem with the computer. It wasn’t just with Betis, but also with other deals. We hope this will be fixed in the coming days.
“This has been done on both sides. We believe that with a PC error this can be solved. We’re working on it and we’re optimistic. “
Fornals was at the London Stadium alongside his West Ham team-mates on Thursday, watching on as they drew 1-1 with Bournemouth.
