San Francisco’s 49ers replaced their franchise course friday with an industry that has the ability to make them one of the league’s dominant forces in the coming years.
San Francisco has made great progress in the 2021 draft, sending its 12th overall pick this year, a third circular in 2022 and the first next year and 2023 to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for this year’s third overall pick.
It’s an agreement that puts the 49ers to take over their long-term quarterback, which quickly raises doubts about the long run of Jimmy Garoppolo, whose time with the franchise seems to be coming to an end.
John Lynch, according to Steve Wyche of the nfl network, said Garoppolo was still on the Niners’ plans, however, it remains to be noted how long the 49ers general manager will have that feeling, as it was a transparent exchange across San Francisco with plans to exploit the full prospect of Kyle Shanahan’s offensive, which Garoppolo has not been able to consistently release.
Of course, this move will succeed if the Niners use the right quarterback’s choice.
Immediately after the deal, Trey Lance of the state of North Dakota and Alabama Quarterback Mac Jones were the two clients known as the most likely goals for San Francisco with the third selection, with little concept about Justin Fields’ touchdown concept with the Niners.
However, given Garoppolo’s criticism of his time with the 49ers, it is Fields and Lance who, assuming Zach Wilson leaves the table with the time of the New York Jets general team, are the quarterbacks with the ability to take one. from the NFL’s maximum dynamic and flexible offenses to new heights.
The e-book on Garoppolo is transparent at this point. When he’s at his best, he’s probably an effective quarterback capable of taking Shanahan’s offense to a higher level, however, he is a limited deep-ball thrower whose difficulties with downstream accuracy charge the 49ers in the Super Bowl LIV. That has largely explained his career in San Francisco, Garoppolo has suffered constant unrest throwing himself against the tension and does not have the mobility to escape the pocket to cancel out opposing passes.
Jones would solve at least one of those problems, with Crimson Tide’s star showing the ability to move intelligently in his pocket to succeed in the face of pressure. He is a decisive and expectant pitcher who reads the defenses incredibly well. Jones pulls out the ball, temporarily and hits his receivers calmly.
Where it fails, however, is in the consistency of its deep ball accuracy and mobility. Jones can throw deep with a remarkable touch and ball placement, but it also doesn’t produce, with Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith occasionally rescuing through making the right changes to the underlying passes.
And, despite the strangely impressive times of 4. 72 and 4. 68 seconds on the 40-yard card on Alabama’s professional day, the cases in which Jones got out of his pocket and played on the move were rare.
In fact, Jones has athletics to pose a risk with his legs and one wonders if it is cellular enough to run bootlegs that are a staple of the Shanahan system.
There will be no such considerations about Fields or Lance, who have a strong claim to be the class’s top athletic quarterback.
Both can escape tension with their legs and make exact throws in the race and are significant threats to damage the floor. Fields is a fast and elusive runner with 15 touchdowns in 22 games with Ohio State, while Lance totaled 1,100 yards on the ground and 14 touchdowns in his full season with the Bisons, adding two more in his appearance in 2020.
Fields also has the merit of Jones falling. His functionality in the Buckeyes’ Sugar Bowl victory over Clemson was a very accurate demonstration and reflected his entire campaign.
According to Pro Football Focus, Fields had an exact cast percentage of 68. 4% in passes beyond the first down score in 2020; Jones, on the other hand, hit 58. 5% of one’s pitches. Only Wilson had a higher percentage of accuracy in pitches of 20 meters or more than 70% of Fields in 2020.
Lance is more of a prankster in this regard. His career-specific pass percentage, through PFF, is only 47%, however, it can be argued that he has the roof of any quarterback in elegance when he goes deep, without throwing past a player with a remarkable arm who also possesses the speed and strength to hit defenders on the field.
While Lance’s inexperience makes him perhaps the biggest “project” of major appellants, he and Fields are the most likely clients to have for San Francisco, which possesses the wide variety of skills needed to help 49er’s offense get rid of useless chains. The quarterback has placed an offensive that is among the most productive in the league each year.
Their pitching ratings in all grades of the box can facilitate Shanahan’s much more competitive strategy, while their respective talents with their legs can open pages of the playbook that had remained intact in San Francisco in the past.
The last time Shanahan was paired with a true double-threat quarterback, Robert Griffin III enjoyed an offensive rookie of the year season in Washington. That good luck was still too fleeting, as it came just minutes from a Lombardi Trophy in Shanahan’s third season, the Niners have the obligatory infrastructure for Garoppolo’s good fortune to this point in the game.
Following an industry that shook the NFL, the 49ers are in a position where they can secure their prestige as long-standing Super Bowl contenders this decade, but their position among the elite is that Shanahan adopts the era of athletic quarterback and San Francisco is decanted by one player. able to elevate its offense to a place deserved as the NFL’s ultimate devastating offense.
