MILAN (AP) – Sassuolo beat Hellas Verona 2-0 to take the lead in Serie A for at least a few hours before AC Milan’s match in Naples last Sunday.
Sassuolo advanced one point to Milan and Rome, who beat Parma 3-0, and Napoli would move to teams, with 17 points, if they beat Milan.
This is Sassuolo’s eighth season in the Italian elite and the team has never finished above the sixth.
Verona dominated the game, hitting the wood four times. But Sassuolo broke the impasse within 3 minutes of the period and opposed the course of the game.
Jeremiah Boga hit a Domenico Berardi crossover and curved it around the corner.
Berardi himself entered the adjustment blade in the 76th minute, Verona players failed to close it before unleashing a shot that had a slight detour to get into the crossbar.
INTER RETORNO
Two goals won helped Inter beat Torino 2-0 4–2 thanks to an animated Romelu Lukaku.
Both games had players excluded from the coronavirus. Torino also missed coach Marco Giampaolo because of the virus and forward Andrea Belotti withdrew injured from the warm-up.
His replacement, Simone Zaza, sent Torino back on half-time serve and Cristian Ansaldi doubled the visitors’ lead at 62 in the afteraging after Ashley Young committed a foul on Wilfried Stephane Singo.
Inter withdrew just two minutes later when Lukaku’s shot came from the crossbar, Alexis Sanchez managed to shoot the rebound.
Lukaku then hit him before turning sanchez’s center in ’64.
And Inter’s comeback was completed six minutes from the moment Lukaku changed a penalty after Achraf Hakimi entered the area through Nicolas Nkoulou.
Inter sealed the match at the last minute when Lukaku ran to the left and rolled for Lautaro Martínez to enter.
OTHER PARTIES
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored two goals in an impressive first half for Roma following Borja Mayoral’s first match.
Mkhitaryan has already scored goals in his last two Serie A matches.
Earlier, Cesare Prandelli’s first head of Fiorentina ended in a 1-0 home defeat to Benevento.
In addition, Bologna 2-1 at Sampdoria. Udinese later played against Genoa.
