New York Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner tried his hand at playing golf this summer and has gained a newfound respect for the sport.
Gardner said on social media that he now believes golf is more than football:
I never thought I’d say this, but golf is more than football.
It makes sense that a new game would be a challenge for Gardner, especially because of how simple it makes his job.
In two years in the NFL, Gardner won back-to-back Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro choices. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2022 after leading the league with 20 assists.
While the Jets have struggled to find good luck in Gardner’s young career, the team has better prospects for the 2024 season thanks to the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers after his Achilles tendon injury and a strong free-agent status.
Gardner will soon hang up his golf clubs and turn his attention back to football, when the Jets begin educational camp later this month.
