Scottish Premiership: Rangers at Dundee on Sky, Celtic face St Johnstone and can Aberdeen win again?

Will there be more twists and turns in the name race and the war for survival when the Scottish Premiership returns after the break?

Sky Sports cameras will be at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday when Livingston hosts Celtic, and all other games will be covered on Sky Sports News and on our blog on the Sky Sports app and website.

Take a look at what’s at stake this weekend. . .

Brendan Rodgers will watch from the stands as Celtic head into next weekend’s Old Firm clash against Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The coach will serve his one-game suspension for his comments on adjustment after their loss to the Hearts, and assistant John Kennedy will handle the suspension.

Livingston is 10 points off the back of the table, with only 3 league wins this season.

They were inspired by the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Celtic earlier this month but still lost at Parkhead.

Rangers have a chance to return to the top of the Premiership, at least until Sunday, with a win over Hibs on Saturday.

It will be their first game since leaving the Europa League at Benfica as they look to get back into form after just one win in their last 4 games.

Philippe Clement’s side beat Hibs in the Scottish Cup earlier this month, but after losing any of their home games before the overseas break, this may prove to be a tough test.

That loss to the Rangers was the Easter Road team’s only loss in their last 8 games and they are looking to finish in the top six with 3 games left before the division.

Having ended their winless run before the break, Aberdeen know they want to keep the momentum going in the face of the threat of being dragged into the relegation play-offs.

The Dons are ninth-placed in the table, two numbers ahead of St Johnstone and 3 ahead of Saturday’s opponents Ross County.

The Staggies have taken a step forward since Don Cowie took over as interim manager following the departure of Derek Adams, adding 8 problems in their last league games.

Aberdeen are winless in their last six home league games, but are unbeaten in the last one. Aberdeen are unbeaten in five top-flight matches against County.

While Hearts comfortably sit in third place, Kilmarnock know they want a result at Tynecastle Park to ensure they remain fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

It may be a war for Killie in Gorgie with just one win in their last five league games against the Jambos and they have conceded the first in 3 of those games.

Hearts suffered a wonderful loss at Ross County last time out, but they are unbeaten in their last seven home games.

Both Motherwell and St Mirren will get back on track this weekend after suffering defeats in their final league games before the break.

The Steelmen, who still have a chance to finish at most six on the road, have lost their last two league games at home and could lose three in a row at Fir Park in the best game for the first time since November 2022.

They also conceded the most goals at home (26) and lost the most home games (seven) at the festival this season.

St Mirren are still aiming for 4th place and have won two of their last 4 league games against Motherwell, keeping a clean sheet in their last two games.

Dundee had to settle for a point on their final stop at St Johnstone after taking a two-goal lead and will be hoping to avoid a repeat as they look to secure a place in the top six.

Tony Docherty’s side are currently in seventh place, two points behind Hibs with a game in hand.

St Johnstone have won any of their last five home games in the best season (D3 L2) and could end the weekend in the relegation play-offs if that run ends against Dundee.

Saints goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov has taken more shots (449) and made more saves (108) than any goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership this season.
